Lightroom

Mobile

£120

Interactive training over 2 days

10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 each day

Our phones are increasingly being used for "serious" photography and the software available is ever more powerful.  Adobe's mobile Lightroom works alongside the desktop software and in this series we will explore how it all links together and how to use the editing tools to their best effect.  While the process isn't too complicated, making the right decision at the outset will make things flow smoothly.

Spread over two days, you will discover how to use the many features of the mobile system and through a series of simple exercises, you will create a working system and get comfortable with the editing and sharing tools.

Part 1 - Setting up and Initialising

* How everything is connected

* Crucial settings for your mobile devices

* Directing mobile images into your Classic catalogue

* Discover what is already in your cloud and how to initialise it

* Exercise - Initialise your cloud space and starting the sync process

Part 2 - Resolving issues and Organising

* Review of the exercise and resolve outstanding issues (spoiler alert: there will be some issues!)

* Organising - Albums, Folders, Collections and Collection Sets

* Transferring between Classic and Mobile

* What is Lightroom Desktop

* Exercise - Take pictures, organise, sync and share

Part 3 - Editing 1

* Review the organisation and syncing excercise

* Global editing

* Presets and Profiles

* Versions verses Virtual copies

* Exercise - Mobile editing

Part 4 - Editing 2 and Conclusions

* Review the editing exercise

* Local editing - how to add, invert and adjust the tools

* Sharing, commenting, ratings, picks, keywords and searching

Pre-requisites:

  • You must have Lightroom Classic installed on a desktop or laptop computer

  • You must have an Adobe Creative Cloud account (i.e. be paying monthly)

  • A phone or tablet with Lightroom Mobile installed

  • An internet connection suitable for the zoom sessions

Nik Collection

£75

The Nik Collection 3.0

Interactive training over 1 day

10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00

With the release of Version 3, the Nik Collection finally comes of age for Lightroom users. At last we have a “round-trip” editing experience that significantly enhances the workflow. You can now re-edit images in any of the tools and re-visit your slider settings without loss of quality. For that reason alone, I would highly recommend anyone still using the old free Google version to upgrade and give the collection a proper look.

This workshop takes a tour through all of the tools to highlights which are worthy of your time. We will spend most time with Analog Efex, Color Efex and Silver Efex using supplied sample images or your own. We will discover some cool features and filters and fully understand how the collection integrates into your workflow.

I will be demonstrating using Lightroom but Photoshoppers are very welcome as almost all the content is relevant to both editors.

What you need

You will need your editor and the Nik Collection installed for the workshop.

You can get a 30-day free trial here: https://nikcollection.dxo.com/download

Beware The Nik free trial will overwrite the free Google version so make sure you have a backup

Mono Art is a series of six, small group photography sessions, aimed at supporting your development as a Black and White photographic artist. Focused on seeing, interpreting and developing, these sessions will help you to improve your artistic and creative skills in a small and enthusiastic group.

The social dynamic of these groups is a hugely important part and seeing the work of others is very inspiring. Equally, receiving and giving feedback as part of a group will help you to understand your own work.

At each session, you will be able to share your work, give and receive critical comments and take part in live editing. These sessions are a natural compliment to my tool training workshops and help you to apply the ideas learned to your own work over a longer period. You are encouraged to bring work to each session for the group to review and for us to work with.

  • Supporting your development over a longer period
