Service Description
Date: 24-28th January 2024 Leaders: Adrian Beasley, Jeremy Walker Group size: Max 6 Basis: Single Occupancy room, Bed & Breakfast Venice is such a rich visual feast that it would be easy to shoot it just one way, in colour. However, with this workshop we will focus you on capturing the mood, texture, line, shadow, light and detail reducing long exposures. With a small group and two experienced leaders, we will be able to help you to engage with the monochrome world and learn to shoot and edit in Black & White. Adrian will demonstrate editing techniques on-the-hoof using the latest mobile editing tools. He will also have his laptop available all day while we are shooting so that we can explore how images can be created in realtime. With this immediate feedback you will quickly learn to see image opportunities and take them before they are lost. Long exposure photography allows us to reduce complexity, especially where water or moving subjects form part of an image. Because of the abundance of canals and waterways, there are many iconic locations that work especially well for long exposure photography. However, there are many more opportunities where the location is not important but a beautiful image can be created. We will help you explore those iconic places but also the lesser trodden areas where you can create unique images and express your personal style. We will also experiment shooting with a short exposure, allowing some movement. About Jeremy Walker Jeremy Walker is one of the UK’s most respected landscape photographers and is known for his eye-catching panoramas, moody, atmospheric landscapes and dark dramatic images of castles and ruins. Jeremy started his career as a studio photographer but has been specialising in location imagery for over twenty-five years. As a result of his eye-catching photography, he was invited to join the prestigious Nikon Ambassador programme in 2016. He is the author of ‘Landscape’, his highly acclaimed first book and is in much demand as a speaker, writer and workshop leader.
