Newcastle in B&W
Capture to Print

23rd to 25th Oct 2023

All inclusive* with 2-nights accommodation, max 4 clients

£1195 (10% deposit)

Introduction

Join us for a fun filled, Black & White, capture to print workshop in the majestic city of Necastle-Upon-Tyne.

Newcastle is famed for its 7 bridges. These include the Gateshead Millennium rotating foot bridge, the low level swing bridge and the worlds first combined road and rail bridge designed by Robert Stephenson. However, Newcastle offers much more for the inquisitive B&W photographer. The sweeping hills on which the city is built result in a cascade of buildings, roads and bridges that provide some unique perspectives. There are many steep and narrow stairways to discover, hidden between the beautiful period facades.

On the North side, Grainger town offers the central arcade and the lovely old covered Grainger market, home to the original M&S stall and an opportunity to do some people watching. On the south bank there is the towering, austere Baltic museum, a converted flour mill. The Sage centre is the most recent addition, with its futuristic curved glass exterior looking like an alien space craft and makes a great modern B&W subject.

During the processing and printing day we will look at how to interpret the subjects you have captured during the previous day. For those interested, Adrian will show some of the techniques he uses to make his bold B&W images. We will print images onto a selection of Fotospeed fine art papers at A3 and you will take home 4 to 5 prints.
