Prepare for
Book Making

16th July 2024

£95

Small group interactive training

10:00-14:00 (UK) with a 15 minute comfort break

Book making is a very rewarding venture for Photographers and hand made photo books have become very popular in recent years. In their simplest form a blank book is constructed and printed images are cut out and pasted into the book. However, I really enjoy the look and feel of a photo book where the images are printed onto the book pages. If you are interested in creating hand printed photo books, this workshop will help you create the pages for your book block.

We cover the key steps needed in preparing your book project. These include selecting, sequencing, organising, editing, managing text and printing. We will primarily use Lightroom but I will also use Photoshop to demonstrate some alternative ways to create book pages with text.

We do not cover the actual construction of the book, if you are interested in learning to make the book itself please see my other workshops.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Using collections and collection sets

  • Sequencing

  • Prototyping

  • Creating images with a consistent look

  • Using Lightroom and Photoshop to handle text

  • Managing blank pages

  • Creating print templates for different book styles in Lightroom

  • Getting the best results from your prints

Pre-requisites:

  • You must have Lightroom Classic installed on a desktop or laptop computer

  • Optionally Photoshop to explore alternative page layout ideas

  • An internet connection suitable for the zoom sessions
