Learn to shoot, edit and make a quickie zine using your phone

If you want to get more from your very capable phone camera, this one day workshop is for you. I have been capturing, printing and exhibiting images from my phone for many years. While I use an iPhone, I also have an Android phone. I'll show you how to setup the camera, make basic edits using the built in editor and some more advanced editing using Lightroom and Snapseed.

We will make a circular walk around the awe inspiring architecture of Newcastle, crossing a few bridges and capturing images as we go, ending back near Newcastle Central Station where you will pick your favourite few images and make a small zine to take home.

Agenda
We will meet for coffee at 10am and look at your phone's settings and the various shooting modes. The iPhone does have some special features which we will also point out.

After coffee, we will head into the city shooting the architecture, railways and street scenes of the city while refining our shooting settings and trying some editing on-the-fly. We intend crossing some of the bridges so this may not suit anyone with serious vertigo.

We head back towards the station where we will show how to use Snapseed and Lightroom on your phone to edit your images. Finally, we will take a small selection of your images and show you how to make a small zine.

Eating and Drinking
We are starting from Turcos Cafeteria opposite the Central Station, so you could arrive early and catch up on breakfast! We will pass food and drink options during the day if you need to top up. We will make sure there is time to grab a snack lunch. You might prefer to bring a packed lunch especially if you have specific dietary needs. We will reach our zine making location around 3pm where there will be complimentary tea/coffee.

Clothes and Equipment
The wonderful thing about phone photography is you don't need a tripod or rucksack. Wear comfortable shoes (we will be walking for a good few hours) and dress for the weather forecast. If you have mobility issues or tire quickly, check with us before booking as Newcastle is know for it's hills.
